The School Advisory Committee or "SAC" as it sometimes is called, is a leadership group who are elected or appointed to the Committee each spring. The purpose of SAC is to assist in the development of the policies which shall govern the operation of Saint Eugene School, to promote the implementation of said policies and to provide counsel and advice in the operation of the school.
SAC Officer terms are three years and the maximum term any SAC member can hold is two terms. The 2010-2011 SAC officers are as follows: Ann Gariti, President, Vice-President and Treasurer and Jennifer Ahrens, Secretary. Other members of the committee include Mary Cherian, Michael Crimmins, Margaret Kinel, Joe Larucci, Maria LoGuidice, Maria Novak and Brian O'Neill.
Within the School Advisory Committee, there are several sub-committees: Marketing, Promotions, Volunteer Recruitment, and Legislative Action. A favorite deliverable from last year’s SAC was awarding a $500 scholarship each to one male and one female graduating 8th grade student of St. Eugene School. The criteria for this scholarship was that the student be in the top 1/3 of the class, be planning on attending a Catholic High School and thirdly, that he/she demonstrate Christian values. The winner of the scholarships were selected by the Junior High faculty. Both of the winners from the Class of 2010 are now attending Loyola Academy for their high school education. The plan is to continue this scholarship program via SAC’s efforts.
The School Advisory Committee generally meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in Room 110 of the school. In addition to the members listed above, our Pastor Father George Keoune and our Principal Dr. Patricia Brown also are in attendance. Guests are always welcome as attending is a great way to keep abreast of all the current affairs of our school. Did you know that you can be a member of a sub-committee without making the full commitment of being a SAC member?
