At St. Eugene School, we have implemented the Accelerated Reader Program in grades K through 8.  The purpose of this program is to enable students to experience more powerful practice reading sessions.

Accelerated Reader enhances and supports the basal reader series and other instructional materials.  The Program provides data that helps the teacher monitor and personalize reading practice, encourages substantial amounts of reading practice, and makes reading practice fun for students by facilitating successful encounters with books.

 

It promotes wide reading, which is the most effective method for building vocabulary. Students receive direct and systematic instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics skills, and comprehension strategies.  By adding the AR Program to our already outstanding curriculum, we at St. Eugene are continuing our commitment to high quality education.
