Battle of the Books 2011 - 2012
St. Eugene School will once again be participating in Eisenhower Public Library's Battle of the Books program which is open to students in 4th through 6th grade.
The program consists of teams of ten students each who will jointly read a list of twenty books and answer questions from the reading, while competing against four of our neighboring schools. St. Eugene has several copies of each book available to check out to students who are planning on joining the program and Eisenhower Library also has a "Battle of the Books" section with copies of the books, and well as some audio copies also.Students wishing to participate in the program will meet with Mrs. Berg and Mrs. Fedoruk beginning in October. The members will meet every other week during the lunch period. Beginning in February, students will participate in a practice battle, 5 competition battles, and an awards ceremony. The battles will be held at Eisenhower Library from 4:00 - 5:15 p.m. You will need to arrange your child's transportation to/from the battles. A limited number of seats are available for spectators. Battle dates are February 8, 15, 22, 29, and March 7, 14, and 21.
If for any reason your child is unable to attend a meeting or competition please send a note to Mrs. Berg or Mrs. Fedoruk, so we know not to expect them that day. All participants are expected to read at least 10 of the 20 books to compete in the battles.
