St Eugene School and Chess Scholars present an Afterschool Chess Club with Professional Instruction.
Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children's motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Open to grades 3-8.
Winter Session: 8 classes on Wednesdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m. February 15 - April 2, 2012.
No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginners and experienced players are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. There will be a pizza party at the end of the session! Special promotion: each first time participant will receive a free chess set to take home.
